Tuesday 22nd May – windsurfing * The Dip, Felixstowe – sunny and warm :)

After yesterdays wash out in windsurfing term where we spent the whole afternoon waiting for the wind it looked a fraction more hopeful today but once again the Wind Gods let us down once again:( Nice morning enjoying the warm shine, had my eyes tested and ordered two pairs of glasses, then checked the availability of timber at a builder’s merchant for our sons decking before checking out The Dip and it looked promising with 12 mph from the NE. enough for me to come home and hitch up the trailer! After a light lunch I dropped Mag off at The Fludgers so she could have a walk and continued onto the beach. My gauge was showing 15 mph NE so I rigged 8.5 for the big Xantos but again by the time I had my wetsuit on it had completely dropped so I took my raceboard out. I headed out in light airs towards the red and white bouy but even though beating both ways I ended up back at my starting position! The next run I was now heading directly to the left! The wind was all over the place you managed a few gusts especially in the river mouth and the reach back was ok riding the waves, in fact I did this a couple of times. The wind now was North and all over the place so headed back to the beach for a chat with Mark Smalling and Andy Mexome who came down to sail but didn’t rig! This really can be a crap sport and I have lost count of the many hours wasted waiting for the wind to turn up! Tomorrows forecast is looking better but it is starting off North before switching NE so I am not over optimistic!
